Will the wait be worth it?
So it’s been a while since I wrote my newsletter for you. So a lot has happen in that time. But I will start with a HAPPY NEW YEAR to you. Hope your year has started well. Mine has been, hmmm, interesting.
For one, doing work and ComX is starting to get intense and leaving me barely enough time to do anything else, like sleep and …. well sleep. 😛
That said, I love both so not the hugest sacrifice. I did end up in hospital late last year for a little under a month. I did ECT while at the clinic to stabilise my mood. I should note when I say mood I’m not referring to my general mood but rather my medical mood. There is a difference. LUCKILY I got out before Xmas so got to spend Chrissy with Kez and Doug. Happy times.
The big news, I’m taking ComX Studio to Supernova Melbourne this year Woooohoooooooo I’m so excited and just can’t hide, I’m about to lose control and I think I like it… ooohhhh yeah…..
What Sizzle read this week
Deer Editor #1
by a huge team of people including Ryan K. Lindsay and Sami Kivela
This was an Impact Comics exclusive cover limited to 200 copies. wooot wooot… I got 28 😀
Cool story, nice art. Hell of a cliff hanger, can’t wait for issue 2.. I better check if it is out already.
Twisted Fayte #1
by Josh Elliott and Jason Patterson
Wow, just wow. I’ve never seen such a cool take on Fairies. Oops I mean Fae. They hate being called Fairies.
Sexy Fae fighting for their lives against what seems like freakin’ everything.
No humans were harmed in the making of this comic but bloody hell, there was a lot of Fae hurt!
Just imagine you’re 3 inches tall and thrown in the normal food chain.
What is new at ComX Studio
It’s a little stage at ComX Studio at the moment. Last year was slow and steady, 1 or 2 people joined the team. This year has been crazy with the team now number 15 people, creators and helpers alike. 17 if you count Kez and Doug.
From 7 people last year to 15 in the first month of this year. Holy Moly.
Should I stress? Can I handle the possible 25 books slated for this year at ComX Studio alone? You’d probably think I’m crazy.
Well, there’s something you might not know… ComX Studio is NOT me. ComX Studio is us, the ComX Studio family, the ComX Studio team, whatever you want to call us. There is no “i” in ComX really applies here. At ComX Studio we all help each other out. It’s not just Siz behind the release of each book, it’s a team of amazing people there at my side the whole time. Strength in numbers I say!
That’s how you weather the storm that is Indie Comics, you work together.
Fun stuff from ComX Studio
To help out the Foes Campaign, I got in on the drawing another persons character, or in this case, characters. Here’s me havin’ a go at Foes.
I’m not one to travel far
This trip to Melbourne is not just going to a cool event representing ComX Network and ComX Studio, but also going to Melbourne for the first time. I’ve never been more south than Sydney.
So what about you, whats the most South and most North you have been? Throw in East and West if you have the time 🙂
